BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INTERN - RISK MANAGEMENT
LAS, the business services arm of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) is a not-for-profit organization representing Ontario’s municipal governments. We are currently seeking a Business Development Intern – Risk Management.
The successful candidate will assist with the development of various initiatives related to LAS’ 2023-2027 Strategic Plan. The Intern will support the launch of a new risk financing vehicle for municipalities. This work will involve research, analysis, report writing and management, creation of a marketing and communication plan, assistance with note taking at a board level and board meeting coordination to help with the rollout of this new risk financing vehicle. In addition, the position will involve developing an understanding of LAS brand and values and programs to help with future marketing and communications.
The Intern may be required to help prepare general marketing material for various municipal conferences and events and will attend AMO’s 2024 Annual Conference to be held August 18-21, 2024 in Ottawa, ON.
Current enrolment in post-secondary studies at an accredited University in Ontario in the field of Business Administration with a focus on insurance and risk is preferred. Creative thinking skills with attention to detail, knowledge of municipal government, superior written and verbal communications and effective client relations will benefit applicants. Preference will be given to students who have an academic requirement for an internship placement (4- or 8-month term) and who have completed the 3rd year of a related program or are enrolled in a Master of Business Administration program.
The Internship is a temporary position of up to 34 weeks (May to December 2024).
Remuneration is salaried, based on $24 per hour (under review) and a 35-hour week.
